Redgate Beach, Margaret River Elopement of Meghan + Justin

Meghan & Justin were planning on eloping at Contos beach just south of Margaret River, but a last min decision was made to hold the ceremony at Redgate Beach which was a lot closer to the accommodation. We weren’t sure exactly where there, but luckily it’s my local beach and I suggested we go for a walk on the north side out of the wind with a few spots in mind. We all trailed along the beach without a plan or exact location in mind until we found the perfect spot where Meg + Justin got married in front of  just a few of their closest family members. After the ceremony we went back to Caves manor Air BNB and then back to a beautiful nearby cliff overlooking the beach to catch some of the sunset golden light. The Photographs are a mixture of digital and analog (35mm film).

Tell me about the location of the wedding – why did you choose it and what does it mean to you?

We had two ideas for what we wanted our day to look like. 1. we wanted everyone to be in the same house, to really bring our two families together. 2. we wanted to actually get married somewhere that looked Australian. We chose the Caves manor air bnb as it was a luxury house, that felt comfortable and was able to house everyone who was attending the wedding. We love it as we werent able to actually get married on the property, we needed to find something that made us go WOW. This past weekend we went down south and went to look around to find “the spot”. We stayed at this camp site and during check in Justin told the woman at the counter the reason for our stay, she suggested we check out Contos beach as she thought it would be a good fit. We went first thing in the morning and drove down to the beach. The secluded-ness of drive down was perfect. When we walked down to the beach and came out of the path we immediately knew that this was the place, the rocks, the cove, the cliff everything about it was breathtaking. We knew this was it!

How did you find me? Why did you pick me to capture your wedding day?

Justin’s mum found you, I am not sure how she did! but man are we glad she did. You are so relaxed, calm and seem super fun 🙂 which is exactly what we want in our wedding day :

Tell me about yourselves … How did you meet?

We have been together for just over 5 years, we met at a birthday party for my (Meg) housemate. We have been inseparable ever since. I am a Chief Operating Officer for a courier company and Justin own’s his own bricklaying company. We love to travel and see new places, hang out with friends, we really love going out for dinners and drinks with friends and just the two of us, and have been enjoying working out together. We also just love hanging out at home watching Tv or movies spending time together. We just like spending time together, whatever that is. Our families, friends, dog and our relationship are the most important things in our lives.

The proposal? …Tell me a little bit about it…

We got up on a Saturday morning to go look at rental properties in Sydney, we were thinking about moving houses and had a whole day of inspections booked. Justin jumped out of bed and was acting quite strangely. He rushed us out the door for us to walk down and get a coffee from the café down the road. I thought this was a bit out of the ordinary. It was winter (August 2020) but it was an unusually warm morning, but he insisted on wearing this massive jacket. We got the coffee and he was said to me “lets walk the long way home down the path” we had a canal behind our house with a small foot bridge that lead up to our street. We walked down the path, and man was he walking slow haha. I did think for a second.. wait is he going to propose? We walked past the foot bridge and past our house, I could tell something was up because we just kept walking. When we got to the end of the path he said lets turn around and walked back down. We finally got to the foot bridge. I walked ahead, I got about half way across and he said “ Hey Meg” I turned around and he was on one knee with the ring out. I blurted out “ are you sure!!!” haha and we had a little giggle. It was perfect, no one was around and was very relaxed, perfectly us.
