I always love photographing a Boranup forest wedding – it is one of my favourite places around Margaret River and it makes the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. It was so special to see my friend Casey marry her soul mate Gonzalo there. Casey and I both grew up in Margaret River where we first met doing circus school together quite young. Although I loved it, I was never quite as dedicated as Casey, who then went on to pursue a career in circus performing and has traveled all over Australia and the world doing what she loves (she is amazingly talented at juggling and acrobats!). Casey met Gonzalo at the Karridale circus festival a couple of years ago. Soon after they traveled to Europe together and ended up living in France for 2 years.

After the wedding ceremony among the trees, Casey and Gonzalo were very eager to go straight to the party with their family and friends. I luckily managed to convince them to let me snap a few portraits of them both beneath the beautiful Karri trees and then making a short detour on the way to their reception. We pulled over on a beautiful section on caves road where one side of the road there were native flowers and on the other side warm amber tones from burnt eucalyptus trees.

Having met each-other here, the Karridale Circus festival made for the perfect location for Casey & Gonzalos wedding reception. They were welcomed into the reception with beautiful music from Scott Wise & Gary accompanied by the talented Rowena Wise on Violin. Their friend Ella Nortan put together an amazing cake for them, with Gonzalo holding a soccer ball and Casey upside down in a handstand – a perfect representation of them both!
